FOUR DECADES OF EXPERIENCE IN LAW ENFORCEMENT

Sheriff Wayne Ivey has over four decades of  experience in law enforcement.  He began his career as a Corrections Deputy with the Clay County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office in 1980 and transferred to the Putnam County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office where he served as a patrol deputy sheriff from 1982 to 1984. He was promoted to Detective in 1984 and served with Putnam County for an additional five years before returning Clay County as a Narcotics Detective.

In 1993, Sheriff Ivey was appointed as a Special Agent with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement. Between 2000 and 2005 he served as a Special Agent Supervisor and from 2005 through 2011 as the FDLE Resident Agent in Charge.

Sheriff Ivey was elected Brevard County Sheriff in 2012 and re-elected (unopposed) in 2016.

A LEADER EDUCATED IN THE FIELD OF LAW ENFORCEMENT

Sheriff Ivey earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Brevard Community College, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Supervision and Management from Daytona State College.

He is among a select group of law enforcement leaders chosen to attend the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia.  Sheriff Ivey graduated from the FBI National Academy’s 237th Session in 2009.
